@LucasBlade yes man! The days of couch co-op need a return! There was nothing better than hopping on the couch with a friend or two and throwing down. Gta v would be one of the best splitscreen experiences to ever hit a system.
@Steambun wait, wait, wait!!! So you got the splitscreen to work, but the audio wasnt quite working correctly? You'd have to mute the second player? I don't see that as being such a big issue unless I'm missing out on something. Also, wouldn't allowing the second character to have their own camera potentially fix "issues" with having to aim in 3d space and such? I mean, it would at the very least allow the second character to not have to always be in the view of the first character. Implementing true splitscreen would be nothing short of amazing, and you sound as if you have the ability to make it happen. What's holding you back? The frustration of getting it to work properly? The time it would take? If anything, you sound confident in your ability. So once you DID get a working version of the splitscreen, I have no doubt that your mod would just go the very top of most downloaded. Allowing more views and downloads, which would also lead to more Donations.
Okay, I've requested a few times before but I believe it was before this mod was made open source. So, all my modders out there with the skills and knowledge to change the game to your will, I am completely serious in saying this, I will pay $500 to the first person that is able to get me a playable version of this mod with SPLITSCREEN. For those of you that say it can't be done, well, yes, yes it can. It's all a matter of scripting. No need to argue the matter or tell me whether you can or cannot do it. I will just simply say, I will pay $500 to the person that first sends me, or uploads a PLAYABLE splitscreen version of this mod. It is already halfway there. The second camera is basically all that is needed. Congratulations @benjamin94 on this beautiful mod, I'm only encouraging to push further. And p.s. All the comments on how it would be too much for the computer or how beefy of a rig you'd need, not worried about that. Just want it to work. First to get it gets $500.
@ecukan youre missing what im saying. This mod as it is,is awesome, its genius. I love it. It is very good. It is just scratching the surface of what it could actually be. Which is whats so great about it, becuase its already awesome. think about it though. having the ability, the freedom, to play how you want to play. To be able to play in gta:sa view, and then press a button and it change to splitscreen. The gta:sa view is cool, but everyone has their own opinion on things and what makes things popular is variety and choice. the choice to play in gta:sa view and then change perspective to be 3rd person and it be splitscreen. Imagine it. the city chaos. The head on collisions at top speed. The pointless shenanigans. You see, theres a difference between playing online and having a buddy come over and both of you hop on the couch and throw gta 5 in to play splitscreen. Its just a new realm of possibilities. Like you said, its not impossible. It may be hard, but it is not impossible. Not even close. Just Programming. Its all Programing. I believe in the potential this mod has. Dont get me mistaken, i am in no form stating that this mod is not awesome as is. I am stating, to really get the full impact of this mod, splitscreen should be an option. it should be a choice to play in gta: sa view, or splitscreen. Freedom is what players like. Why do you think we are on PC in the first place? I see potential in this mod and its creator. He just needs to see the potential in himself. A splitscreen gta v mod? you get that working well and thats something that most people would pay a little pocket change for. It takes a pioneer to do what hasnt been done. Im simply finding the pioneer. Its very possible and would be very enjoyable to the mass.
@xinerki impossible? no. difficult, yes. you obviously miss the potential of what this mod has. It would be difficult having to program the other camera for the secondary player and positioning and whatnot, but impossible? no. Im Pretty sure this guy could do it. Hes on the right track as it is.
I will definitely donate and support this mod, this mod has potential to be the best addition to the gta v mod database and you're first to get to it. This mod has amazing potential. I have looked through the mod comments and noticed you said that you will likely not add splitscreen. I can understand the limits of technology with this, but i do believe it would be possible for stronger computers to be able to run the splitscreen fairly well. Also, think about this, splitscreen would demanding for having to load two different areas at once mainly, but if you were to incorporate a range limiter, it would reduce the power needed to load the area. the two could have their own screen, but have a range that isnt too short, but isnt too long, and not have to completely exactly load two different areas since both players would be in the same general vicinity. I believe it could work, and if you would like to put this into action, Id be more than happy to fund the best gta v mod to come out yet, think about it. EVERYONE wants to be able to play gta v in splitscreen. Most computers might not be able to handle it, but that shouldnt prevent you from making it for those computers that can. You could even make two different versions, one like the one you have now, with the gta sa style camera, and one for beefy computers where you have splitscreen. Everyone is happy. Youre sitting on the golden mod for gta v and I hope i perhaps have shed a little light on something and perhaps maybe even sparked an interest in creating the splitscreen. Youve already got the majority of the work done. Youd just need to set players 2 3 and 4 to have their own camera, and set it for the screen sizes. I believe you could do it and id be happy to donate to the cause of the first gta v splitscreen multiplayer mod.
